Martin Manuel

Martin Manuel is Hopi from the Village of Sichomovi on the Hopi Reservation. He is the Project Coordinator for the Construction in Indian Country program at ASU, balancing traditional values and Western educational philosophies to manage infrastructure projects within Indigenous communities. He has experience in the engineering design aspect of a project, having worked for Tesla, Inc. as a Photovoltaic Designer for 5 years, and in the construction management of a project, serving as Project Manager for the Hopi Utilities Corporation for 3 years. Martin’s passion for tribal infrastructure projects is evident in his involvement in various solar projects within indigenous communities, culminating in the Hopi Arsenic Mitigation Project, one of the largest IHS-funded regional water systems to date. Martin is currently a doctoral student in Construction Management at the Del E. Webb School of Construction at Arizona State University. Martin’s plans after graduation are to remain an advocate for clean water access and other vital utility services for tribal communities by overseeing the construction of utility infrastructure for all tribes across the United States. On his days off, you can find him exploring a new National Park. Currently, he has visited 30 of the 63 in the US and aims to see them all.
