Professor, Ecology and Biostatistics, Applied Biological Sciences, Department of Applied Sciences and Mathematics, College of Technology and Innovation
Ward Brady is currently Professor of Quantitative Biology in the Department of Applied Biological Sciences. He recently served for six years as the founding Chair of the Department. His research interests are in the application of statistical tools to problems in the biological sciences. Research in the past has focused on the ecological sciences with particular interest in monitoring ecological change. His recent work, however, has focused on biotechnology and includes work on the development of cell-based bioassays and procedures for establishing cutpoints in immunoassay. Current research interests also include application of Bayesian methods to ecological monitoring and sustainability analysis.
Recent courses taught by Dr. Brady include ecology, statistics, general biology, and sustainable biological systems. While his favorite course is ecology, he also finds great satisfaction in helping students learn statistics. He is a member of the Ecological Society of America, the International Biometric Society; the American Statistical Association, and the Society for Range Management. He was appointed by the Arizona Governor to the Rangeland Technical Advisory Council and the Arizona Agricultural Protection Commission. He has also been active for the past six years in community engagement through supporting science education for the home school community.
