Erin Benefiel-MacDonald

Hi!  I am Erin Benefiel-MacDonald, and this is my 24th year of teaching.  I have taught kindergarten all the way through Masters level courses, been an academic administrator, curriculum specialist, reading specialist, Lead Master Teacher, and a Teacher Trainer over my years in education.  

I currently teach full time at ASU for the LEAD program and I love it.  My passion is helping students learn the tools for success, and instilling in them that they CAN do anything they put their mind, heart, and hard work in to.  

My educational background is in Education – I have a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education with certificates in Structured English Immersion, Reading, and Curriculum Development, and my Master’s Degree is in Early Childhood Education with a specialization in Curriculum and Instruction. Both of my degrees were earned at Northern Arizona University.  

On a personal note, my husband and I have 2 amazing boys that keep us busy with a lot of baseball and school activities. My oldest will be a senior at Northern Arizona University majoring in Graphic Design and Advertising. My youngest will start high school at Desert Vista in the fall and is our baseball fanatic - we love to watch him do what he loves.  In my spare time I love to travel (preferably somewhere with an ocean), hike, do some crafty things, and spend time with friends and family.
