G. Zhiyong Lan is professor of Public Administration (Emeritus) at the School of Public Affairs in the Watts College of Public Sevice and Community Solutions at Arizona State University. He obtained his B.A. degree from Nanjing University, PRC, his MPA degree (Master of Public Administration) from North Carolina State University, and his Ph.D. degree in Public Administration from the Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs, Syracuse University.
Professor Lan teaches and researches in areas of general public administration theory, research methodology, information technology and resources management and policy, organizational studies, government and business relationships, local government and economic development, and comparative public administration. So far, he has published 16 books, over 200 journal articles, book chapters, and other publications. The journals he has published articles in include Brown Journal of World Affairs, Public Administration Review, American Review of Public Administration, Journal of Public Administration: Theory and Research, Administration and Society, Journal of Government Information, Information Resources Management Journal, Journal of American-East Asian Studies, Asian Journal of Public Administration, Asian Thought and Society, Chinese Public Administration Review, etc.PAR paperpaperpaper a "Conflict Resolution Approach to Public Administration" was collected in a Public Administration Review ClassicsClassics volume.
Lan has also published monographs, newspaper articles, book reviews, research reports and conference proceedings, and presented more than 300 papers at national, international, and regional conferences. Professor Lan served on a dozen of editorial boards and founding chief for Public Administration Policy and Review, served as a board member of the Science and Technology Section of ASPA (American Society of Public Administration), and as a referee for a number of public administration journals. He is also very active in working with the local governments and local communities.
