Fannie Tam serves as Director for Global Academic Initiatives. She works with ASU stakeholders to develop and advance international partnerships and global engagement. Prior to this position, she was the managing director of the ASU Confucius Institute, overseeing program planning, execution and budget management. During her 12 years at the Institute, Tam developed and advanced 14 Confucius Classroom partnerships with K-12 schools in Arizona to promote Chinese language and culture studies. As Co-PI of the ASU Flagship Linkages program, she led the Arizona AP Chinese project, a collaborative effort between the Institute and four secondary schools in Phoenix to develop and implement a model AP Chinese program.
Prior to her time at Arizona State University, Fannie was a management consultant in intercultural communication and negotiations for Intel, AT&T, American Express and Honeywell. She was a faculty member of the MBA Program at the University of Phoenix and was awarded Outstanding Graduate Business Faculty in 1997.
Tam is fluent in both Mandarin and Cantonese. She holds an MBA and a M.A. in Asian Studies from Brigham Young University.
