Dr. Laura Swantek is an Assistant Research Scientist in the School of Complex Adaptive Systems. She is the project coordinator for CoMSES.NET and the administrative coordinator for the Open Modeling Foundation. Dr. Swantek is an archaeologist and anthropologist whose research focuses on the emergence of social complexity during the Prehistoric Bronze Age on Cyprus using small world network analysis and theory derived from complex adaptive systems. She is also the co-director of the Kourion Urban Space Project, an active archaeological field project that addresses the correlation of natural disasters and social change through excavations of a 4th century AD city on the south coast of Cyprus.
