Alejandra Enriquez Gates is a Program Director in the Center for Advanced Studies in Global Education where she supports international initiatives on professional development and strategic partnerships. Her experience includes directing the Fulbright Distinguished Awards in Teaching Program (Fulbright DAI) from January through July 2020 and managing the Building Leadership for Change Through School Immersion Program partnerships with school districts for the July 2019-2020 cohort. Ms. Enriquez has managed multiple programs for the center including the Fulbright DAI 2019, the International Leaders in Education Program 2018, and the 2017 cohort. Alejandra also managed the USAID- India Support for Teacher Education Program (In-STEP) and the Next Generation Leaders Program (NGL-Palestine). Before joining Mary Lou Fulton Teachers College, Enriquez served as the Director for Conexiones, a Migrant Education Student Program, and oversaw the Strategic Partnership of ASU with Tecnológico de Monterrey in Mexico and supported additional initiatives in Global Engagement.
Prior to joining ASU, Enriquez served as State director of English language programs for Elementary School and director of the Education Sonora -Arizona Institute within the Secretariat of Education and Culture for the state of Sonora, Mexico. Enriquez has 30 years’ experience in education. Her research interests focus on the areas of international education, multiculturalism, cultural proficiency, and education technology.
