Jarrett J. Haskovec is Associate General Counsel at Arizona State University. Prior to this role, Haskovec served as Unit Chief Counsel of the Worker Protection Unit at the Arizona Attorney General's Office. Earlier in his career, he represented clients in private practice and served as the general counsel of an education-related nonprofit association. The primary focus of his law practice is on labor and employment law, education law, and administrative law. Haskovec is licensed in federal and state courts in Arizona, among others.
He earned his juris doctorate with distinction at the University of Iowa College of Law in 2005. While in law school, Haskovec externed at a federal district court and served as a research assistant with a focus on comparative employment discrimination law. In addition, he was both a student writer and the senior note and comment editor on a law journal. His note comparing and clarifying the burden of proof in cases of employment discrimination in the United States and the European Union was published in Transnational Law & Contemporary Problems in 2005.
Haskovec received a bachelor's degree with honors and highest distinction in global studies and an international business certificate from the University of Iowa in 2002 and a graduate certificate in nonprofit management and leadership from Arizona State University in 2010. He studied abroad during college and law school in programs in Germany, Austria, Denmark, and France.
Haskovec is currently a part-time graduate student studying public policy in a master's program at ASU. Among other subjects, he is interested in public administration, the minimum wage, consumer protection, access to justice, the administration of justice, technology transfer, and place-based economic development policies.
