Lili Wang is an associate professor of nonprofit leadership and management in the School of Community Resources and Development. Before joining Arizona State University, she worked at the Taubman Center for Public Policy at Brown University.
Her research focuses on individual philanthropy (charitable giving and volunteering), institutional philanthropy, collaborative governance, and international NGOs. She earned her doctorate in public administration from the University of Southern California with a study of social capital and community philanthropy. Wang has been awarded the Association for Research on Nonprofit Organizations and Voluntary Action (ARNOVA)’s Emerging Scholar Award for research excellence. Her research has received support from the Social Science Research Council, the Bureau of Land Management, and the St. Luke’s Health Initiatives. Her work on nonprofit studies has appeared in Nonprofit and Voluntary Sector Quarterly, Nonprofit Management & Leadership, Voluntas: International Journal of Voluntary and Nonprofit Organizations, and Public Management Review.
At ASU, Wang has worked with students in the Watts College of Public Service and Community Solutions' undergraduate research program, and has served as chair or committee member for dissertations, theses and creative projects undertaken by students from the School of Community Resources and Development, School of Public Affairs, the Social Justice and Human Rights program, Barrett Honors College, and so on. She currently serves as the faculty honors advisor of the Barrett Honors College and graduate program director of the master's and doctorate degree programs in the School of Community Resources and Development.
