As Executive Director, Global Academic Initiatives, Dawn Straw works in partnership with internal and external stakeholders to develop, facilitate and promote pan-university and public-private partnership engagement models that solve global learning and capacity building challenges. These activities support the Office of Global Academic Initiatives’ role to promote educational access and opportunity, academic excellence and international impact on behalf of the university.
Before serving in her current role, Dawn served as Executive Director, External Relations and Partnerships for the Thunderbird School of Global Management. She connected the external community – from local partners to global organizations – into the Thunderbird and ASU learning, development, research and thought leadership ecosystem. Dawn worked closely with the heads of Thunderbird’s global hubs to bring Thunderbird’s strengths to regional markets, oversaw the school’s portfolio of strategic partnerships and served as an ASU Knowledge Enterprise Development Fellow.
Dawn has over 20 years of experience in higher education, primarily designing learning solutions and leading collaborations between external stakeholders and universities. She holds a MS in Higher Education Management from the University of Pennsylvania's Graduate School of Education, an MBA from the W. P. Carey School of Business at Arizona State University and a BS in Corporate Communication from the Roy H. Park School of Communications at Ithaca College.
