Alma Barnett is the Director of Employer Relations and Talent Services at Arizona State University (ASU) Career Services. In this role, Alma fosters strategic relationships with employers to showcase ASU’s exceptional talent, bridging the gap between the future of work and the university’s diverse student body. Her work plays a key part in fulfilling ASU’s charter to take fundamental responsibility for the economic, social, cultural, and overall health of the communities it serves.
Prior to her current role, Alma served as the Associate for Changemaker Central at ASU, where she and her team inspired students to engage with social justice, entrepreneurship, sustainability, and community service, empowering them to become leaders of meaningful change.
With over 25 years of experience in higher education, Alma has held numerous student services, academic, and teaching positions. She was the Director of Marketing, Career Services at the University of Phoenix, overseeing career and professional development for online students and 13 campus locations across the U.S. Alma also served as Key Account Director at Thunderbird School of Global Management, where she managed corporate relationships for the Executive Education division, focusing on both regional and global clients. Additionally, she was the Assistant Director at ASU’s W.P. Carey School of Business, leading international service delivery and supporting student academic success for the Professional MBA and International Programs.
Alma holds a Master’s degree in Higher and Postsecondary Education from Arizona State University. Her extensive training includes project management, career counseling and development, budget management, transformational leadership, and teaching pedagogy. Deeply passionate about education, Alma is dedicated to connecting students with opportunities that foster personal and professional growth.
