Tracy Scott joined the Office of the Senior Vice President and Secretary of the University as the Director of Strategic Communications in January 2018. Prior to her appointment at the Hub, Scott served as the Director of Marketing and Strategic Communications for the ASU Alumni Association. In that role, she led all the marketing initiatives for the association, oversaw all aspects of content production for the ASU Alumni Association, directed initiatives related to ASU’s collegiate license plate, and led the award-winning ASU Magazine for more than eight years.
Prior to her current position, she served as director of marketing for a community hospital, acute-care hospital, and a behavioral health center offering inpatient care and outpatient services. In that role, she developed and implemented marketing strategies to increase volume for specific product lines; served as a member of the hospitals’ administration; acted as the spokesperson for all facilities; led all community relations efforts; and served as the service excellence director. During her more than 25-year marketing communications career, Scott has led the public relations division of a local mid-size advertising and public relations agency; and served as vice president of marketing and media relations for the Greater Phoenix Chamber of Commerce directing all of its marketing, sponsorship development, special events, communications, and media relations initiatives. Her career has included marketing communications positions with Banner Health System, MicroAge, Best Western International Inc., and Phoenix Magazine.
Scott’s community involvement includes serving as a member of the board of directors for the Kiwanis Club of Tempe and advisor to Circle K International at Arizona State University. Her community service also has included six years as a member of the Tempe YMCA Board of Managers, City of Tempe Homeless Advisory Committee, and March of Dimes volunteer. She is a member of the Class II of the Arizona Political Leaders Fellowship and has completed the City of Phoenix Citizen Police Academy. Scott received her bachelor’s degree from ASU’s Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication. While at ASU, she worked at the State Press, eventually serving as the publication’s editor.
