Prof. Garrett received his Ph.D. in finance from Purdue University, in 2008. Earlier, he received his B.S. in physics from Texas A&M University, in 1989, his M.S. in electrical engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology, in 1991, and his M.B.A. from Southern Methodist University, in 2000.
Prof. Garrett has taught undergraduate, M.B.A., and M.S. (in Finance) students in the areas of corporate finance, investments, money and debt markets, markets and institutions, international finance, and financial statement analysis. His research interests are focused on the areas of organization structure, the nature of information produced in firms, and executive compensation. He has presented his work at a number of conferences and universities. He is currently a member of the American Finance Association and the Financial Management Association.
Before pursuing doctoral studies in finance, Prof. Garrett worked as a research and design engineer in developing antenna and microwave technology for defense electronics applications. He was employed by the Georgia Tech Research Institute, Texas Instruments, and the Raytheon Company.
