Dr. Garcia earned his PhD in English Language and Literature from ASU in 2024. Taking an interdisciplinary approach, Dr. Garcia's research combines literary analysis, history, phenomenology, critical geography, and urban studies to analyze the representation of urban space in 20th and 21st century literary texts. With special attention and emphasis given to the literature of Chicago from the Nineties on, Dr. Garcia's work attends to the way such literature represents, critiques, and intervenes in the neoliberalization of cities.
Extremely passionate about first-year education, Dr. Garcia has taught at ASU since 2018, teaching ENG101, ENG102, ENG337, and LIA101.
