Senior Program Manager, Graduate Studies in English

Kira Assad serves as the Senior Program Manager of Graduate Studies in the Department of English within The College of Liberal Arts and Sciences at Arizona State University. She manages all aspects of the department's graduate programs, including admissions, advising, graduate student funding, and academic support for doctoral students in English Education, Linguistics and Applied Linguistics, Literature, and Writing, Rhetorics and Literacies, as well as several graduate certificate programs. She works closely with faculty leadership to support graduate student success and the ongoing development of the department's graduate programs.
A proud ASU alumna, Kira earned a Bachelor of Arts in English (Literature) in 2014 and a Master of Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages in 2018. She has worked in the Department of English graduate studies office for more than a decade and has developed expertise in graduate education administration, student advising, admissions, and program management.
Kira is passionate about creating positive and supportive experiences for graduate students as they navigate their academic and professional journeys. She has also written and edited numerous published articles for Accents on English, the Department of English's former newsletter, highlighting the accomplishments and initiatives of the ASU English community.
Outside of work, Kira is a musician who plays clarinet, bass clarinet, and tenor saxophone. An Arizona native, she enjoys solving escape rooms, traveling with her family, and spending time with her dogs, cat, and backyard chickens.
