Christopher Mellon
Dr. Christopher Mellon is a physician and Phoenix native. He earned his medical degree from Midwestern University and completed his residency in General Surgery at Creighton School of Medicine- Phoenix, where he was recognized as the Richard E. George Intern of the Year and received the Academic Excellence in Residency Award. Dr. Mellon also completed the prestigious Kenneth A. Suarez Research Fellowship in the laboratory of Dr. C. George Carlson, focusing on the pathophysiology of muscular dystrophy and exploring myostatin inhibitors as potential treatments. Upon graduation from his residency, Dr. Mellon earned the Daniel M. Caruso award for his work during training. He was the inaugural fellow in Surgical Critical Care at Honor Health and is board certified in General Surgery and Critical Care. After his fellowship he joined the practice at Acute Care Surgical Specialists where he has had the privilege to mentor and instruct General Surgical residents and focus on training them in robotic techniques and innovative practices. He is the current Director of the Surgical Critical Care unit at John C. Lincoln Medical Center, as well as the Surgical Clerkship Director for the John Shufeldt School of Medicine and Medical Engineering at Arizona State University. He is committed to academic excellence in both the medical student and resident areas of training. Dr. Mellon is particularly enthusiastic about how to best apply evidence-based practice to the surgical setting. Beyond his professional achievements, Dr. Mellon enjoys cooking, is an avid follower of Arizona sports, and live music.
