Howard is the Director of Research Advancement in the Mary Lou Fulton Teachers College. In this capacity, he works closely with faculty to prepare and submit grant proposals to government agencies, foundations, and corporations. In addition, Howard works with faculty, staff, and other offices to ensure funds are used and spent according to accepted policies.
Howard leads the proposal preparation and submission team for government, corporate and foundation research opportunities. He interacts with senior internal and external personnel on significant technical matters and strategic decisions to develop policies and procedures that follow university, state and federal laws and guidelines. Howard assists in the resolution of complex research issues (both pre- and post-award) and conducts training sessions in research-related areas. Howard is a member of the National Council of University Research Administrators and the American Association of University Administrators. He holds a BA in psychology and has earned the designation of Certified Research Administrator (CRA).
Howard began his career at Northeastern University in Boston, MA and then spent 11 years at Princeton University in Princeton, NJ. He has been at Arizona State since 2011. He holds a B.A. in Psychology from Rutgers University and is a member of NCURA.
Howard is very active in his community with youth atheltcis. He served in the United States Coast Guard and was awarded the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal and National Defense Service Medal.
