Honor Glenn manages the Biodesign Imaging Facility (BIF), part of the Advanced Light Microscopy Core in the Biosciences division of ASU Core Facilities. The BIF is a full service, state of the art light microscopy facility serving ASU researchers as well as the surrounding academic and non-academic research communities. This core is customized for live cell imaging and offers modalities such as confocal, super-resolution, and total internal reflection fluorescence (TIRF) microscopy. Dr. Glenn provides user training on all core instruments as well as assistance with experimental design, data analysis, and interpretation. She also collaborates with scientists from many fields on imaging projects. Such collaborations include microscopy, as well as contributions to grant proposals and manuscripts.
Dr. Glenn has over 20 years of experience in confocal and other optical microscopy techniques. She has applied these approaches to numerous research areas such as cancer physiology, muscle development, extra-cellular matrix related signaling, cell motility, inflammation, materials science, and virology. She has over 12 years of experience managing shared microscopy facilities, and led the establishment of two such cores, including the BIF.
Dr. Glenn’s research interests focus primarily on aspects of cancer development, physiology, and intervention. She has investigated intracellular signaling pathways that mediate cancer motility and metabolism, analyzed the regulation of cell fate decisions leading to apoptosis or differentiation, and developed new technologies and methods for single-cell analysis and cell migration. Her current work is on the development of oncolytic myxoma virus as a therapeutic intervention for a variety of cancer types.
