Robert Barrett

Born and raised in Monterey Park, California. Graduated from Schurr High School in Montebello, California and took some years off from school to just work and gain experience. In my mid 20s realized that if I wanted more than my current job which was working as a manager in retail, I need to return to school. I returned to my local Junior College, East Los Angeles College and graduated from there with an Associated Degree in Behavioral Science in 2011, then transferred to Arizona State University and attended the Cronkite School of Journalism. I graduated from Cronkite in 2013 Sum Cum Laude, and got my first full time professional job in Bakersfield California, at KERO-TV, ABC23 as a Newcast/Ignite Director. I spend 15 months at KERO before accepting a new position at KSAZ-TV in Phoenix, FOX10. I spent the next 11.5 years at FOX. Started as an ELC Director then eventually transitioning to a Senior Operations Technician role before leaving to become a full-time Professor back at the Cronkite School. I teach Studio Production, but have a passion for journalism and story telling.
