Gilbert Arvizu's research interests focus on designing and implementing multilevel, structural interventions to address health-related social needs, with a particular emphasis on historically disconnected communities in Phoenix, AZ. His work explores how complex social, economic, and ecological factors converge to influence health outcomes and perpetuate or mitigate health inequities.
Leveraging interdisciplinary frameworks from systems science, sociotheology, and coopetition theory, Gilbert examines how individual behaviors, healthcare systems, and broader societal structures interact. He seeks to unravel the mechanisms through which these interactions create, sustain, or reduce disparities in health and social care access.
