Maureen is an Associate General Counsel in the Office of General
Counsel at Arizona State University, where she represents the
University in connection with its real estate assets and
projects. Before that Maureen was in private practice with the
law firm of Mohr, Hackett, Pederson, Blakley & Randolph, P.C. from
1985 through January 2009, and thereafter with Sherman & Howard
L.L.C. when the firms combined. She left Sherman & Howard
L.L.C. in 2012 to join the Office of General Counsel.
While in private practice, Maureen specialized in real estate law,
real property leasing and real estate finance. She also
represented clients in connection with matters involving construction
law, business law, and corporations and business organizations.
Her representative clients included commercial real estate developers,
homebuilders, supermarket chains, property management companies,
owners' associations, real estate investment trusts, restaurants and
lending institutions.
Maureen received the "AV® Preeminent™ 5.0 out of
5" rating by Martindale-Hubbell. She was certified by the
Arizona State Bar Board as a Certified Specialist in commercial real
estate law from May 17, 2007 through August 31, 2012. She
is currently serving on the Arizona State Bar Board of Legal Specialization.
Maureen has received several commendations by her professional peers
including being recognized in (i) the “Attorneys to Know”
section of Arizona Commercial Real Estate’s 2009-2010
edition of “Top People to Know in Commercial Real
Estate”, (ii) The Best Lawyers in America® in
the specialty of Real Estate Law, 2010-2011; (iii) Southwest Super
Lawyers, 2009-2012; (iv) Arizona's Finest Lawyers, and
(v) Best of the Bar, Real Estate Law, The Business Journal,
2003. Maureen has been a member of the National Network of
Commercial Real Estate Women (CREW) since 1988. She has held a variety
of positions with that national trade association, including President
of the local Chapter (1996), President of the national association
(2000) and Chair of CREW’s philanthropic foundation (2004).
Maureen holds a Juris Doctor degree, cum laude, from Arizona
State University Sandra Day O'Connor College of Law, 1986.
Maureen was a Senior Note and Comment Editor for the Arizona State
Law Journal, and Vice Justice for Phi Alpha Delta Legal
Fraternity while in law school. She also holds a Bachelor of
Science in Finance degree, magna cum laude, from Arizona
State University, 1981, and an Associates of Arts degree, high
honors, from Phoenix Community College, 1976.
