Erin Jordan is a Clinical Assistant Professor in the School of Accountancy at the W. P. Carey School of Business at Arizona State University. Erin teaches financial accounting to both undergraduate and MBA students, and in recognition of her outstanding teaching was awarded with the Huizingh Outstanding Undergraduate Teacher Award (2022), recognized as a finalist for the John W. Teets Award for Outstanding Undergraduate Teaching (2021), and nominated for the Business is Personal Outstanding Teaching Award (2021) and the Huizingh Outstanding Service to Undergraduate Students Award (2023). Outside the classroom, Erin is a passionate mentor and champion for her students, as evidenced by her regular appointments with students to discuss career aspirations and develop a resume and personal narrative, successful placement of students in internship roles, service as director of honors theses, and recognition by Arizona State University as an educator and mentor for student athletes.
Erin also holds the position of Faculty Director for the Full Time, Evening, Fast-Track, and Online MBA programs, where she focuses on providing support, advice, and guidance to students, while developing impactful and distinctive student experiences to create a truly transformative MBA.
Erin is a proud Sun Devil alumna, having earned both her PhD in Accounting and her MBA from W. P. Carey. She also holds Bachelor’s degrees in mathematics and biology from Claremont McKenna College. Her primary research interests focus on accounting education, and the use of modern techniques in the classroom such as: flipped classroom modality, active learning techniques, and asynchronous mixed with synchronous content.
Prior to joining the ASU family, Erin worked in the pharmaceutical and medical device industries, supporting research and development for large multinational pharmaceutical companies such as GlaxoSmithKline and Johnson & Johnson. These experiences working in an innovative setting with teams across functional areas and expertise have given Erin the experience and knowledge to apply cross-functional learning in the classroom and an appreciation for the benefits of working in diverse teams.
