Jason Overmyer

Jason Overmyer, LMSW is an Academic Associate in the ASU School of Social Work with over 20 years of experience in forensic social work. 

Since 2005, he has taught undergraduate and graduate courses, legal issues in social work, mitigation in capital cases, and sentencing alternatives. He currently teaches in ASU’s Online Graduate Certificate in Criminal Sentencing and Sentencing Advocacy, integrating field experience with real-world application.

Jason has held various roles including leadership and clinical roles in public defense, probation, behavioral health, and education. He has developed statewide training for justice professionals and contributed to reform efforts in mental health and criminal justice systems.

He holds degrees from SUNY Fredonia and Arizona State University and completed international study at the University of North London. He is a Licensed Master Social Worker in Arizona and a member of the National Organization of Forensic Social Work, the National Association for Public Defense, and the The National Alliance of Sentencing Advocates and Mitigation Specialists.
