Sheri Gibbons is the Director of Emergency Preparedness at Arizona State University (ASU). In this role Sheri is responsible for planning, organizing, directing, and evaluating ASU's Preparedness Program in accordance with institutional policies, and federally mandated protocols and strategies.
Previous to working for ASU, Sheri served as the Emergency Management Coordinator for the Town of Gilbert, a jurisdiction in Maricopa County with a population of over 250,000 people. In Gilbert Sheri managed both state and federally declared disasters. Sheri served on the governor appointed Arizona Department of Homeland Security’s Central Regional Advisory Council from 2004-2017 and continues to serve on the Arizona Department of Education’s Emergency Response Advisory Council since 2005.
Mrs. Gibbons has a Master's Degree in Public Health from the University of Massachusetts. She is a Certified Emergency Manager (CEM) by the International Association of Emergency Managers and a Certified Public Manager (CPM) from Arizona State University. She has been a registered nurse (RN) for more than 25 years.
As a Faculty Associate for the School of Public Affairs at Arizona State University since 2004, Sheri teaches PAF 424 Comprehensive Emergency Management, PAF 425 National Incident Management System, and PAF 360 Intro to Emergency Management.
