Kate Fox received her Ph.D. in Criminology, Law and Society from the University of Florida in 2009. She served three years on faculty of the College of Criminal Justice at Sam Houston State University before joining the faculty at Arizona State University in 2012. Fox is Director of the Research on Violent Victimization Lab. Her research focuses primarily on crime victimization, particularly among underserved populations and Indigenous Peoples. Her research examines violent victimization, interpersonal violence, stalking, family violence, and female genital mutilation, among other forms of victimization. Within these research domains, her work examines the needs of victims, program effectiveness, and theoretical explanations for victimization.
Fox partners with Indigenous community members, legislators, organizations, and leaders across the state of Arizona to address the Missing and Murder of Indigenous Peoples (MMIP). Fox and the Research on Violent Victimization Lab lead the statewide research with the State of Arizona to understand and reduce MMIP.
Her work recently published in top-tier journals, including the American Journal of Public Health, Criminology, Justice Quarterly, Journal of Interpersonal Violence, and Violence & Victims.
