Ebru Türker is an associate professor of Korean. She teaches courses on Korean language and Korean linguistics as well as general linguistics courses within the School of International Letters and Cultures. Her research interests include Korean linguistics, second language acquisition of Korean, longitudinal L2 acquisition, cognitive linguistics, corpus linguistics, figurative language, multimodal metaphor analysis, L2 metaphor acquisition and L2 acquisition of formulaic language.
Her research explores (1) the study of cognitive process in second language acquisition (SLA) and to discover the influential factors that reduce or enhance L2 learning development; (2) the relationship between linguistic features of Korean and empirical studies of Korean learning and teaching.
Her work has appeared in journals published in North America, Europe, and South Korea such as Second Language Research, Review of Cognitive Linguistics, Journal of Second Language Studies, The Language Learning Journal, The Korean Language in America, Discourse and Cognition (담화와 인지), Journal of Korean Language Education (한국어교육), Grammar Education (문법교육), Eoneohag (언어학). Prior to her arrival at ASU, Türker taught at the University of Pittsburgh and University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa.
