Dr. Tonia Stott is a Clinical Associate Professor in the School of Social Work and Director of the Child Welfare Education Program. She is a child welfare educator, trainer, and researcher. She has over 20 years of experience in child welfare, with most of that experience in Title IV-E student education and training. She has developed and taught several child welfare courses in the School of Social Work at ASU, as well as Social Work practice courses. She has experience teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels in all modalities including asynchronous online, synchronous online, in-person, and hybrid. Her passion is coaching students and staff in skill development in working with vulnerable children and families. She has created and facilitated multiple trainings and workshops toward this aim. Her research efforts have included those that aim to advance permanency and well-being for children and youth in foster care, particularly transitioning young adults and expectant and parenting young people. In the roles of Manager and Director of the Child Welfare Education Program, she has pursued strategic initiatives and quality improvement measures, strengthening the operations, administration, curriculum, and field education efforts of the Program.
