Patrick Drake is an undergraduate studying Physics with a minor in Neuroscience at Arizona State University. A United States Navy veteran, his academic journey is driven by a relentless, lifelong curiosity about the physical world and the underlying mechanics of reality. His ultimate ambition is to engineer Artificial General Intelligence (AGI) a pursuit crystallized in time8machine, a conceptual vision of AGI born from his imagination that he is actively working to define and ground through his rigorous academic studies.
What sets Patrick apart in the hard sciences is his highly creative, interdisciplinary approach to complex problem-solving. His methodology is deeply influenced by the lyrical artistry and storytelling of hip-hop pioneers like Tupac Shakur. Sparked by a formative chance encounter with Andre 3000 in 1996 on a flight from Chicago to the Naval Air Technical Training Center (NATTC) in Pensacola for Air Traffic Controller Training following boot camp Patrick began cultivating a "freestyle" approach to ideation. Crucially, Patrick hypothesizes that this "lyrical artistry and fluid ideation" is the missing key to unlocking true superintelligence. He posits that future systems must move beyond rigid computation and learn to dynamically synthesize disparate concepts with the same unconstrained, creative flow found in freestyle artistry.
Furthermore, Patrick brings a profound sense of grit to his academic pursuits. He openly approaches mathematics not with innate ease, but with an uncompromising work ethic, utilizing the inherent difficulty of the discipline as the fuel to master it. At ASU, Patrick is bridging the gap between raw, uninhibited creativity and the first-principles logic of physics and biological cognition to build a uniquely human, academically rigorous foundation for the future of technology.
