As the Assistant Director of Instructional Design for Open Scale within EdPlus, Lauren Sosa Leo collaborates with the EdPlus team, ASU faculty, and the broader ASU community to ensure engaging, rigorous courses are created for our students. She is passionate about increasing student success and is especially inspired by projects that empower at-risk populations with access to education. Throughout her time at EdPlus, Lauren has been focused on the Open Scale initiatives in roles as an instructional designer, project manager, and senior project manager. The Open Scale initiatives now include two programs that focus on increasing access to higher education. These programs include the Master of Computer Science on Coursera and the Master's Degree in Supply Chain Management on edX.
Working closely with Learning Enterprise, four other Open Scale programs have been transitioned to the LE team including Global Freshman Academy, MicroMasters in Global Business Leadership and Management, Earned Admission, and the MicroBachelors in Professional Writing.
Lauren studied Psychology with a minor in Gender Studies at the University of Notre Dame, where she also went on to complete her Master of Education. While pursuing her degree, she served in the ACE program, a two-year teaching, service, and academic program that places recent college graduates in under-resourced Catholic schools. Prior to joining EdPlus, she spent eight years teaching in elementary schools (3rd and 5th grade) and worked for three years as a Curriculum Coordinator/Program Manager in the Office of the University Provost at ASU.
In her spare time, Lauren loves hiking, running, going to concerts, and watching football and basketball.
