Heather Lineberry

Heather Sealy Lineberry is Curator Emeritus at the Arizona State University Art Museum, faculty associate in the ASU School of Art’s Museum Studies program, and guest curator at the Phoenix Art Museum. Her thirty-year career at the ASU Art Museum included managing the curatorial program, contemporary and historic collections, and curating contemporary art exhibitions with an emphasis on new art forms and collaborations across disciplines. An ongoing focus of her research and curatorial work has been artists who explore the interconnected natural, built, social and political environments and employ strategies from visualization to engagement to explore complex issues of sustainability. Recent exhibitions include New Earthworks (2022), co-curated by artist Mark Dion, and Energy Charge: Connecting to Ana Mendieta (2016), co-curated by Julio Cesar Morales. Currently, Lineberry curated a survey exhibition of American painter Eric Fischl for the Phoenix Art Museum and edited the accompanying book, Eric Fischl: Late America, published by Scala Publishing and featuring new perspectives on his work by all women contributors. For the ASU Museum Studies program, Lineberry developed the class, Museums, Sustainable Practices and Climate Action, looking at practical, programmatic, and mission-based approaches for museums to become conveners of discussion and action on climate change. Lineberry holds an MA in art history and a BA in the Plan II Honors Program from the University of Texas at Austin.
