As an Instructional Designer at Arizona State University’s Universal Learner Courses (ASU ULC), I leverage my experience as a former secondary mathematics teacher to build engaging online learning experiences that merge rigorous pedagogy with gamified, learner-centric design. With a Bachelor’s in Secondary Education (Mathematics) from ASU and a Master’s in Curriculum and Instruction from Grand Canyon University, I bring both classroom insight and curriculum development expertise to every project.
In my current role, I collaborate closely with faculty, subject-matter experts, and technologists to design, develop, and refine online courses that empower learners. My passion lies in incorporating gamification—points, quests, leaderboards, interactive challenges—to boost motivation and retention in digital environments. Whether reimagining assessments, scaffolded activities, or immersive micro-learning modules, my goal is to create vibrant online courses where learners feel challenged, supported, and excited to progress.
Having taught at the secondary level, I deeply understand learner needs, scaffolded progression, and feedback loops in student learning. This foundation informs my instructional design philosophy: clear learning pathways, meaningful engagement, and ongoing iteration. At ASU ULC, I help shape the future of affordable, high-quality online higher-education by transforming complex content into accessible, effective, and engaging learning journeys that scale.
