Kim Steinmetz is the Associate Dean of Graduate Programs and External Relations at ASU’s W. P. Carey School of Business, where she leads graduate programs, marketing and communications, alumni relations and events. Steinmetz joined W. P. Carey in April 2013 with more than 20 years of experience of leadership experience. Prior to joining Arizona State University, she was vice president of marketing and communications at Thunderbird School of Global Management. She also spent a decade in radio, television, print publishing and interactive media at Gannett, Hearst, McClatchy, ABC and Disney. She brings extensive experience in improving key performance metrics, including the quality of lead generation, conversion and applications. Steinmetz has launched over a dozen new, innovative educational programs and degrees in her career, staying ahead of student and employer educational needs. She has led numerous strategic initiatives including launching both degree and non-traditional educational programs, curricular reviews, award-winning web development initiatives, global alumni engagements, volunteer board leadership, and rebranding and positioning initiatives. She has conducted hundreds of research studies to better understand customers’ needs in improving product alignment to market expectations. Steinmetz has a passion for people management, organizational alignment, data, strategy and good creative. She received her bachelor’s degree in English with a concentration in art and art history from Cornell College and her MBA from W. P. Carey School of Business at Arizona State University. Her work has been recognized with awards from advertising clubs in Minneapolis and Phoenix, the National Newspaper Association, the American Chamber of Commerce Executives and the American Marketing Association, as well as with Interactive Media Awards. She routinely serves as a judge for marketing and education awards and competitions, and is a member of Beta Gamma Sigma.
