Robert Aguilar is an educator, leader, and learner. As a career educator in the state of Arizona, he values and embraces the challenge of helping students aspire, transition and achieve success. He has worked in elementary schools and secondary schools while also mentoring ASU undergrads.
Born in Arizona in 1967, Robert Aguilar has watched the state and Phoenix area grow through the decades. While graduating from Chandler High School, Robert Aguilar learned the importance of serving the community and helping others. This helped motivate him and others to be the founding members of Omega Delta Phi at Arizona State University. This is the first multicultural service fraternity in the state of Arizona and was created to graduate our members, serve the community, and be role models to the high school students we mentored.
Following graduation in 1991, Robert Aguilar enrolled in the teaching program at ASU and after completing the program began teaching sixth grade in Phoenix. After three years, he made the move to teach at the high school level, where he taught English and Service Learning classes. During this time in the classroom, Robert Aguilar, informally worked with students and their parents to make them aware of the opportunities for higher education. After ten years in the classroom, he made the transition to administration to have a greater impact on the school and surrounding community. Robert Aguilar was a school principal for ten years and an assistant principal for 7. During this time he oversaw various budgets, participated in numerous community committees, and was a member of the redesign and construction of two schools.
Robert Aguilar has been married for over 20 years and has two sons, a loving dog, and a close-knit family.
