Mahyar Eftekhar is an Associate Professor of Supply Chain Management. His research contributes to sustainable development and economic resilience by exploring practical, low-cost, and scalable solutions to challenges in international development, humanitarian response, and nonprofit operations. A major part of his current work centers on incorporating cultural insights and economic theory to foster social mobility and community well-being—a sub-field he refers to as Development Operations Management.
His research has been published in leading journals, including Production and Operations Management, Manufacturing & Service Operations Management, and the Journal of Operations Management. He also serves as a Senior Editor for Production and Operations Management and an Associate Editor for Manufacturing & Service Operations Management.
Professor Eftekhar’s contributions have been recognized with several well-regarded honors, including the DARPA Young Faculty Award, the DSI Outstanding Early Career Award, the Buffa Outstanding Dissertation Award, and multiple POMS Humanitarian Operations & Crisis Management Best Paper Awards.
