Riley Millner is an Instructional Designer at the Thunderbird School of Global Management, Arizona State University (ASU). In her role, Riley oversees the development and management of a broad course portfolio for the 100 Million Learners Global Initiative, focusing on delivering high-quality and accessible ongoing education and professional learning opportunities on a global scale. She is dedicated to creating engaging learning experiences that impart practical skills and encourage exploration and the acquisition of stackable credentials that promote continued education.
Committed to inclusivity and innovation in education, Riley leverages emerging technologies to design personalized and effective learning experiences. She promotes collaborative course design with a partnership between faculty and instructional designers and advocates for evidence-based teaching practices, innovative technologies, and continual iterative review processes for improving courses. Her approach to learner experience design is deeply influenced by an interest in psychology and cognitive science. This foundation informs her focus on motivational frameworks, person-centered design, and the strategic integration of technology to boost learning outcomes and enhance learner motivation. Riley’s higher education career has spanned a variety of educational focuses, including experiences with online course design, faculty development, student engagement and retention, and sexual violence prevention education.
Riley holds a Master of Education in Higher and Postsecondary Education and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology, with minors in Organizational Leadership and Interdisciplinary Organizational Studies from Arizona State University. She is currently completing her second Master of Education in Learning Design and Technologies from ASU, expected in May 2024.
