Denise Hawken

Denise has been instructing at the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism since 2013.  She has instructed several courses, including JMC305 Multimedia Journalism, JMC306 Sports MMJ, JMC345 Videography, JMC414 Digital Graphic Design, MCO465 Sports & Media, and MCO502 Journalism Skills.

She has over 20 years in the sports media industry working primarily in the South West region for NHL, NFL, NBA, MLB, AFL, WNBA, PAC-12, Super Bowls, and All-Stars Games as a graphics coordinator, stage manager and score box operator. Denise’s clientele has included FOX Sports, ESPN, Nickelodeon, Warner Bros., Pac-12 Networks, NFL Films, and ABC Sports.

Before this, Denise worked at KTVK-3TV in Phoenix.   As a producer/editor, she produced television commercial spots of sponsored events.  In their marketing and sales department, she was responsible as an event coordinator, coordinating events such as the highly attended Arizona’s Family Women’s Expo and weekend events for the Fox Kid’s club.

Denise received her undergraduate degree from Northern Arizona University in Broadcasting and her MMC from the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism at ASU.
