Dr. Lisa Peña is a visual communication designer whose specialties include information design, inclusive design, and professional development. Her research focuses on historic information design and its ability to impact the future of design education. She is a strong proponent of inclusive design principles and encourages applying them to projects to enhance the abilities/experiences of multiple users.
In addition to teaching, Dr. Peña is an active AIGA member and serves as the student group's advisor. For the VCD program, she is the undergraduate internship coordinator who verifies students and employers comply with the school's requirements. In Fall 2017, she volunteered to join HIDA's Diversity and Inclusion Group to remove barriers, provide opportunities for all, and improve the learning/working environment.
Throughout her career, Dr. Peña has taught numerous in-person and online courses at the undergraduate and graduate level. Over the years, her students have produced print and/or digital work that has been selected as winners or finalists for various student competitions.
