James Hartman is a faculty associate with the aviation program in the Polytechnic School, one of the Ira A. Fulton Schools of Engineering at Arizona State University. He joined ASU in 2007. He is a pilot - Rotorcraft (Quantum Helicopters; Chandler Municipal Airport; Chandler Arizona) and - Fixed-wing (Arizona Flight Training Center - A Luftansa Company/Mesa Pilot Development; Williams Gateway Airport; Mesa Arizona).
He has served with the Federal Aviation Adminstration in Washington, D.C. since 2008, before that he held positions with United States Department of Homeland Security - Transportation Security Administration; United States Air Force Research Laboratory/Lockheed Martin Technology Services - F-16/AWACS Flight Simulator Training; City of Phoenix Aviation Department - Airside Operations; Federal Aviation Administration - FAA Aviation Weather Services Office Washington DC; and Next Generation Weather Services Group - program analyst and subject matter expert (National Ceiling and Visibility) - FAA Air Traffic Organization - Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport Terminal Radar Approach Control (TRACON) and Airport Traffic Control Tower (ATCT) - Quality Control Analyst.
