Ronnie Burton is currently the Director of Development for the W.P. Carey School of Business. In this role he works alongside the Executive Director, Dean and faculty chairs leading a comprehensive development program in support of the college's philanthropic priorities. Prior to his time at ASU Burton was the Director of Development for the College of Business at the University of Nevada, Reno.
Before his time at ASU and UNR Burton spent three years as a Regional Development Director for the US Air Force Academy Foundation. There he led major gift fundraising efforts in the southeastern US during the foundation’s most recent $270 million campaign. Ronnie has held previous fundraising roles as the Director of Development for Air Force Athletics and as an Assistant Director of Development for the University of Nevada Athletics.
Prior to transitioning into higher education Ronnie worked for the Commissioner’s Office of Major League Baseball as a baseball operations supervisor overseeing the administrative portion of the First Year Player Draft and operations of the Arizona Fall League. In addition, Ronnie has been an adjunct professor within the department of management at the University of Nevada, Reno college of business where he taught strategic management and policy, and he is also an adjunct professor at California Lutheran University’s School of Management where he teaches Sports Analytics. Academically, Burton earned a Master of Legal Studies with and emphasis in sports law and business from Arizona State's Sandra Day O'Connor College of Law and a Master of Business Administration with an emphasis in management from the University of Colorado, Colorado Springs. He is also currently pursuing his Doctorate in Education with an emphasis in leadership and innovation from the Mary Lou Fulton Teachers College at Arizona State University. A former student athlete Burton graduated from California Lutheran University with a BA in communications.
