ULC Instructional Aide
Hello! My name is Cara Clark and I am an Instructional Aide for Global HST 100 and 101. I live in Las Vegas with my husband and our three kids. We also have two dogs. One is a rescue stray terrier named Stella we found on the street one day. And yes, we occasionally like to yell the name like Stanley from the movie A Streetcar named Desire. We also have a very old wiener dog Daisy and she’s 15 years old.
I love traveling and exploring with my family. When we travel, I always learn all about the history of the area and my family gets to listen to me tell them all about it. They love it! Ha! It's so fun to learn about an area, how it came about and what has happened there over the years. There are so many interesting things that have happened in every part of the world! In my spare time, I also enjoy writing memorials for soldiers who died fighting in World War II with a volunteer group called “Stories Behind the Stars.” My grandpa was a United States Marine during WWII and fought in one of the last battles in the Pacific theater at the Battle at Okinawa. Most of the memorials that I have written are for those who served in his company and died in Okinawa. My favorite thing about writing these memorials is when I find a newspaper article that has great information about their lives, or when I find a good quality picture so people can have a face for their story. I will include a link to a couple of the memorials I have written in case you want to learn about these brave young men’s stories in the public works section of my profile.
I have also worked as a substitute teacher for all ages of children for many years in the Las Vegas/Henderson area and really love teaching and working with kids. I graduated from ASU in 2017 with a Bachelor of Arts in Global History and plan to someday teach history at a college level. When I was in high school, I had no interest in history and thought it was the most boring thing a person could possibly spend their time learning. Over time, I gained a love for history. I just needed to give it a chance. Now, I am so lucky to have a job doing what I love best, being involved with studying history.
I am so excited to work with all of you and hope that you learn to love this class as much as I hope you will!
Bachelor of Arts in Global History from Arizona State University
I have enjoyed working as a substitute teacher for Clark County School District since 2017 teaching all grade levels. I have also taught English to Spanish speakers on a volunteer level through El Centro. In addition, I have written over 25 memorials for fallen World War II soldiers and have completed extensive training on researching historical records with a volunteer group known as Stories Behind the Stars that memorializes fallen WWII soldiers. I now work as an Instructional Aide for Arizona State University where I review student's assignments, give feedback on these assignments, regulate and communicate on the class discussion board and help students succeed with their education goals.
I have written over 25 and will continue to write WWII memorials for fallen soldiers for a volunteer organization known as Stories Behind the Stars. The following links are memorials that I have written to memorialize those who gave their lives during WWII.
