Andrea Haraway leads the ASU-USA Pathways program at the West campus, oversees Student Services for all of Global Launch regular programs, and supports Group and Custom Programming.
In addition to program management, she led the development of a 4-course Business English specialization in partnership with Coursera, and teamed on the development of “Teach English Now!: Foundational Principles”, awarded Coursera’s “Learners First” award for highest student rankings and completion rates out of 1800+ courses on the Coursera platform.
In addition to her work at ASU, Andrea developed, evaluated and managed over 200 academic programs and product lines as the Curriculum Manager for Western International University. She also taught at Thunderbird School of Global Management, Vanderbilt University, and the University of Pennsylvania.
Her expertise includes presentation skills, business writing, English for Academic Purposes (EAP), résumé writing, curriculum development and review, faculty development, assessment, and educational technology. She has presented nationally and internationally on such topics as multilingualism in business communication, writing instruction, discourse analysis, and corporate and cultural communication protocols in cross-border mergers and acquisitions.
Andrea’s global experience began early. As the child of German immigrants to the U.S., with her family she participated in several expatriate assignments to the Netherlands. As an adult, she worked in Kyoto, Japan, where she taught English as a Foreign Language at Doshisha Girls’ Junior and Senior High School (1989-1991). She has traveled extensively in Europe and Asia, and has a passion for languages, having studied – to varying degrees of proficiency – German, Dutch, French, Russian, Spanish, Japanese, and Mandarin.
