Thiago Stangherlin Barbosa is a PhD student at CNCE. He holds a bachelor`s degree in Environmental Engineering by the Universidade de Caxias do Sul RS Brazil; and a Master`s degree in Civil, Environmental and Sustainable Engineering at ASU. He is advised on his Ph.D. by Dr. Klaus Lackner doing his research in characterizing novel materials for efficiently CO2 adsorption and desorption utilization temperature swing, moisture swing, and one-time CO2 capture processes; sorbent`s form factors; and standardized methodologies to scale up sorbents from the mg scale to kg scale. The best performer temperature swing materials will be utilized in the first Mechanical Tree prototype with hundreds of kg of sorbent, in which has the aim to reach economic feasibility for Direct Air Capture technology.
