I am a Ph.D. candidate in the School of Social Work with a passion for research, teaching, and collaborative practice. My dissertation, “Intimate Partner Violence Over the Life Course: An Examination of Help-Seeking, Health, and Wellbeing Among Older Adult Women”, applies life course theory to examine the trajectory and severity of Intimate Partner Violence (IPV) and help-seeking behaviors among a sample of older adult women in the Southwest United States. It identifies significant life events that co-occur with IPV events and their impact on current physical health and mental wellbeing. I am originally from the Chicago suburbs, but more recently from Cedar Rapids, Iowa. I am a medical social worker, a mother of two energetic toddlers, and a runner.
I received my Bachelor of Science in Psychology from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 2008 and my Master of Social Work from the University of Iowa in 2012.
Health and mental health outcomes in aging, interprofessional education and collaborative practice, elder mistreatment and intimate partner violence among older adult women, social network analysis and chronic illness management among vulnerable populations
