Long Bio
Georgios C. Trichopoulos joined Arizona State University as an assistant professor in 2015. He received his doctorate in electrical and computer engineering from Ohio State University in 2013. From 2013 to 2015, he worked as a postdoctoral researcher and then senior researcher at the ElectroScience Lab at The Ohio State University. His research interests are in on-chip antenna design and high frequency sensors. In particular, his research focuses on millimeter wave (mmW) and terahertz (THz) technology for applications in biomedical sensing, imaging systems and wireless communications. He is a co-founder of TeraProbes Inc., a technology start-up company specializing in non-contact device and circuit measurements.
Education
Ph.D. Electrical and Computer Engineering, The Ohio State University 2013
My group’s research interests span the electromagnetic spectrum from the millimeter waves (mmW) to the terahertz (THz) frequencies. Until recently, this band has not been exploited to its maximum due to the under-performing hardware. For example, detectors were not sensitive enough and sources were too weak. However, recent advances in semiconductor technology and nanofabrication techniques have turned the tide and unveiled the great potential of this spectrum with new exciting applications in security monitoring, biomedical imaging as well as high data rate wireless communications.
We design on-chip antennas for sensitive and versatile detectors for imaging and communication systems. The group investigates novel sensing topologies and circuits that will enable new types of imaging for biosensing and non-destructive inspection.
