Yudidt Nonthe is a Truman Scholar, public servant, and Master of Public Administration candidate at Arizona State University. She currently works as a substitute teacher with Mesa Public Schools and serves on the City of Mesa Human Relations Advisory Board, where she advises on issues related to equity, inclusion, and community engagement. A proud daughter of Mexican Otomí immigrants and first-generation college student from Mesa, Arizona, Yudidt brings her lived experience to her work in education and public policy.
Yudidt was named a 2024 Arizona Truman Scholar, a prestigious scholarship and living memorial to President Harry S. Truman that recognizes exceptional students committed to public service. She previously interned at the U.S. Department of Education through the White House Initiative on Advancing Educational Equity, Excellence, and Economic Opportunity for Hispanics, where she supported national outreach efforts and initiatives advancing educational equity for Latino communities.
At the local and state level, Yudidt has led and contributed to civic engagement and policy advocacy efforts across Arizona. She has worked with organizations including Civic Influencers, Campus Vote Project, Poder Latinx, and the Arizona Education Association, where she organized outreach efforts, mobilized student voters, and advocated for increased teacher pay and stronger public education systems. She has also served as an Adelante Fellow with ALL In Education, focusing on education policy and Latino student success, and as a Community Engagement Intern with Read Better Be Better, where she strengthened partnerships to expand access to literacy programming.
Her leadership experience began at Mesa Community College, where she served as Student Body President, representing over 5,000 students and advocating for student needs during the COVID-19 pandemic. She has since continued her leadership through roles such as IGNITE National Fellow, Andrew Goodman Ambassador, and Smithsonian Young Ambassador, and currently serves on the ASU Young Alumni Council. She also volunteers with College Bound Arizona, supporting students through the college application process.
Yudidt has also gained international and cross-cultural experience that informs her global perspective. She studied international relations in Sydney, Australia as a U.S. Department of State Gilman Scholar, volunteered as a missionary in Brazil, and gained early professional experience in Washington, D.C.
Yudidt enjoys learning new languages and is a world traveler.

Yudidt has conducted interdisciplinary research across both scientific and policy-focused settings. In 2017, she was selected as a Smithsonian Minority Award Program Intern at the Smithsonian National Zoological Park in Washington, D.C., where she conducted research under the mentorship of Dr. Michael Power and Dr. Michael Maslanka. During her tenure, she contributed to research on animal nutrition and conservation science, including analyzing dietary needs and nutritional data to support species health and preservation efforts.
She later served as an Undergraduate Research Fellow with the Interplanetary Initiative at Arizona State University (2024), where she conducted research under the mentorship of Jessica Rousset. Her work explored the intersection of space exploration, sustainability, and global collaboration. She co-authored the abstract “SDG 17: Mapping Opportunity for Mutually Beneficial Partnerships in Emerging Spacefaring Ecosystems,” which was selected for oral presentation at the 2024 International Astronautical Congress (IAC). Her research applied sustainability systems mapping and cross-sector analysis to advance global cooperation in emerging space ecosystems.

Yudidt serves on the City of Mesa Human Relations Advisory Board (HRAB), where she was appointed in June 2021. In this role, she advises the City Council on issues related to equity, inclusion, and community relations, helping shape policies that impact the delivery of services to Mesa residents and strengthen community engagement.
