As the director of the Cronkite New Phoenix Sports Bureau, Paola Boivin helps guide students in the school's highly regarded sports journalism program and oversees the Cronkite News Phoenix Sports Bureau.
She just completed a four-year term on the College Football Playoff Selection Commitee. She is a former president of the Association for Women in Sports Media and serves on the American Cancer Society's Women in Sports Against Cancer Council. She has made frequent appearances on ESPN and other national programs and is sought after as an expert on topics related to sports and the intersection of society. She has won numerous awards, including recognition as an APSE Top 10 sports columnist in 2011 and an APSE Top 10 sports feature writer in 2013.
She joined the Walter Cronkite School of Sports Journalism and Communication after two decades as a sports writer and columnist with the Arizona Republic/AZCentral. She has also hosted a sports talk radio show on KMPC-AM in Los Angeles, and was a sports writer at the Los Angeles Daily News and the Camarillo Daily News in California.
