Jessica Berch

Jessica Berch joined the ASU Law faculty in 2017, after visiting ASU the previous year. Before that, she was an Associate Professor at Concordia Law School and served as a Visiting Associate Professor at Southwestern Law School. Professor Berch teaches a variety of courses, including civil procedure, advanced civil procedure, federal courts, constitutional law, conflict of laws, evidence, and constitutional criminal procedure. 

Professor Berch’s scholarship typically involves the intersection of civil procedure, strategy, and ethics. Recently, she has taken an interest in the horizontal federalism implications of piecemeal marijuana legalization and, in particular, how prohibiting states can protect themselves from the transboundary spillover from their legalizing neighbors. Professor Berch was invited to write an article as part of a symposium on marijuana federalism, published in the Boston College Law Review in the summer of 2017.
