Christine Carvalho is the Vice President of the newly established Office of Partner Success inside ASU Enterprise Partners. The Office of Partner Success exists to establish partner centric collaboration across the ASU Enterprise, building bespoke partnerships and ensuring their access to ASU resources to achieve joint success.
She joined ASU in August 2020 as Managing Director of University Marketing, Brand Strategy, and Partnerships, adding the functional areas of Constituent Insights and Analysis (data science) and Performance/Digital Marketing in December 2020. In this role, she and her teams were responsible for the positioning of the ASU brand, the brand health among targeted constituents and for the marketing strategies, insights and partnerships that increase their engagement and "brandsactions" with ASU.
Prior to joining ASU, she was based in Toronto, where she functioned as the Vice President of Commercial Strategy (Chief Strategy Officer) for the newly formed, Coca-Cola Bottling of Canada, a $2B, 7000 person, production, sales, and distribution business. At Coke Canada, she worked with the executive team and Board of Directors leading commercial, process, organization design, and governance strategies to accelerate the company's profitability and ensure long term stability. Her strategic guidance through the simultaneous Covid-19 pandemic and the most severe raw material shortages to hit the industry in 20 years, resulted in breakthrough profit growth for the new company. She continues to support Coke Canada as a strategic advisor in the areas of acquisitions and commercial strategy.
Across her 15 year career at Coca-Cola, she served in various strategy, marketing, and general management roles, including VP of Strategy & Productivity, where she spearheaded complex strategic partnerships such as Anschutz Entertainment Group (Regal Cinemas, LA Kings, LA Live) and the new contract with Arizona State University. As Brand Director, she led the global launch of Coke Zero to become a billion dollar brand and established the long-standing partnerships with NCAA College Football and March Madness. While leading marketing for the west region, she led partner negotiations and managed long-term relationships with all the west coast partnerships, including the Los Angeles Dodgers, Disney, Universal Studios, Harkins Theaters, the Phoenix Suns, and American Idol.
Her other leadership experience includes Strategy and Commercial Practice Lead at ArchPoint Consulting and interim Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer roles in a mix of entrepreneurial start-ups and well-known brands: Nielsen Innovation, FRS Healthy Beverages, Starbucks, Mars Chocolate, Oakley/Sunglass Hut, Pinnacle Foods (Vlassic, Duncan Hines, Birdseye, Hungry Man) and Basic American Foods (Hungry Jack). She was also co-owner of a mobile-digital marketing agency (Touch Mobilizing Shoppers), specializing in Latinx marketing and is an investor and active board member for a number of start-up companies and an advisor to non-profit organizations.
An Arizona native and U of AZ graduate, she returned after 17 years in Southern California to live in Chandler with her husband and their cat, Sir Charles. Outside of work, they enjoy spending time with family (both set of parents and 2 teenage nieces are now in AZ), food and wine (both cooking and eating out), travel (having been to 49/50 states), sports, swimming, pilates, yoga, and are looking forward to relearning golf.
