Judy Grace has been at Arizona State University for more than 12 years, first with the Center for Learning and Teaching Excellence (faculty development), teaching in the Department of English, and now teaching organizational studies in the College of Integrative Sciences and the Arts. In addition to many years of university teaching (Pennsylvania State University, George Washington University, Iowa State University, Norfolk State University), she also served as secretary of the ASU University Senate, worked as an Academic Affairs officer for Western Governors University, was director of research for the Council for the Advancement and Support of Education (CASE) in Washington, D.C., in the news bureau at Old Dominion University, and served as director of Humane Education for the Norfolk Humane Society. Her doctorate is from the University of Arizona. She holds a bachelor's degree in liberal arts, a master’s degrees in English and counseling, and an educational specialist degree in adult learning. She has consulted with the Federal Department of Education on educational outcomes.
Grace has developed several courses for the online Organizational Studies degree, including Interdisciplinary Leadership Skills. While she considers herself a traditional classroom instructor, she loves teaching online because every student must work toward the competencies in order to earn the grade. She likes that the organizational studies program builds upon the student’s own personal experience in organizations. She is interested in assessment of student learning and how students scaffold their knowledge as they progress through their educational experience.
