Erica Mitchell

Erica Mitchell is the Executive Director of Academic Services in the Mary Lou Fulton College for Teaching and Learning Innovation at Arizona State University. She brings over 25 years of experience in higher education, spanning both the for-profit and non-profit sectors. Erica began her career as a career counselor and later served as a director of career services. Upon joining ASU, she transitioned into academic advising and has since held a range of leadership roles within the college.

In her current role, Erica leads the Office of Academic and Career Success, which includes graduate and undergraduate advising and admissions, student retention and engagement, student success coaching, and internship and student teaching placement. Guided by the framework of Principled Innovation, she has transformed the office from a collection of separate units into a coordinated, student-centered system of care designed to foster holistic support.

Erica’s leadership style is collaborative, values-driven, and grounded in reflection. She empowers teams to think creatively, take initiative, and build systems that are both compassionate and effective. Committed to transparency, collaboration, and student empowerment, Erica works to create environments where all learners can thrive and achieve their academic goals.

She holds a B.A. in Business with a concentration in Human Resources and an M.Ed. in Counseling from Northern Arizona University. She also holds certificates from ASU in Mindful Leadership, Lean Six Sigma, and Service Management Excellence.
